Paraffin therapy with hot and cold paraffin: what is the difference.

There are two types paraffin for paraffin therapy: cold (also called cream paraffin) and hot paraffin. Let's take a closer look at the cold one.
Paraffin therapy- a real salvation for dry, exhausted and flaky skin. Cold paraffin softens rough skin, helps get rid of microcracks, improves blood circulation and relieves swelling. Thanks to the additives paraffin therapy also strengthens the nail structure.

Most often used cold paraffin for hands. Can not use cold paraffin for face. Paraffin face masks must be done with hot paraffin.

What is cold paraffin used for?

Cream paraffin acts almost similarly to hot paraffin, only without the heat effect Firstly, cold paraffin is suitable for those who are prohibited from heat treatment of the skin due to various skin diseases.

Secondly, cream paraffin significantly saves the time of the procedure, because it does not need to be melted in a bath, as happens with hot wax. In addition, electric baths for paraffin therapy are not cheap.

Thirdly, cold paraffin contains more essential oils, its structure is denser, so the cosmetic effect lasts much longer and is more effective.

Contraindication the use of cold paraffin (paraffin cream) is due to individual intolerance to the components that make up the paraffin cream. As a result, apply paraffin to a small area of skin for several hours before first use. If you do not have an allergic reaction, then paraffin can be used.

How to use cold paraffin (cream paraffin)

The procedure for cold paraffin therapy is similar to hot paraffin, but you do not need to preheat the paraffin and it is applied with a special brush. Let's look at the steps in more detail.
Cold paraffin is not used for facial procedures!

  1. Disinfect the skin and exfoliate. This will help remove dead epidermal cells and enhance penetration cosmetics into the skin.
  2. Dry the cleansed skin and apply nourishing cream to the skin in a circular motion.
  3. Using a brush or spatula, apply paraffin cream to the skin and carefully spread over the entire area.
  4. Put on a protective bag, then thermal mittens or thermal socks (you can use a terry towel).
  5. After 15-20 minutes, remove the mittens with paraffin. Remove any remaining paraffin with a soft cloth.
  6. At the end of the procedure, reapply moisturizer.
  7. Enjoy soft and smooth skin!

Greetings to everyone who looked at my review.

Today I want to tell you about a salon paraffin therapy procedure that you can easily do at home at minimal cost.

At first glance, it seems that this is a very complex procedure that is difficult to cope with on your own, but after trying it once you will understand that it is very possible to do this procedure at home.

Nowadays such a procedure as cold paraffin has become very popular. In my review I will tell you about hot and cold paraffin therapy and tell you what the difference is and which procedure is better in my opinion.

Paraffin is inexpensive and can be purchased at any pharmacy. The average price of a package of cosmetic paraffin is about 100 -150 rubles.

"Hot" paraffin therapy.

For this procedure you will need the following:

  • A container for melting paraffin, preferably ceramic or glass;
  • Paraffin (sold in a pharmacy and costs about 100 rubles per package, which is enough for at least 2 procedures);
  • Warm mittens or terry towel;
  • Hand cream without water;
  • 2 plastic bags

To start the procedure, you need to melt the paraffin in a “water bath”. To do this, put a piece of paraffin in a glass container and place it on a saucepan with boiling water. Paraffin melts gradually, turning into a transparent liquid. This process approximately takes about 15 minutes, depending on the company and the quality of the paraffin. I advise you to grate the paraffin or cut it into small pieces. I'm lazy and melt the whole piece.

The correct paraffin temperature should be no more than 50°

After the paraffin has melted, I pour it into a plastic bowl into which it will be convenient to put my hand and wait for the paraffin to cool a little so that its temperature is comfortable for the skin and does not burn it.

The most important rule is to avoid water getting into the paraffin during the melting process. The container in which you will melt the paraffin must be perfectly dry so as not to get burned during the procedure!

Since I, unfortunately, do not have a liquid thermometer, I check the temperature of the paraffin by lowering one finger into it. As soon as I feel that the temperature has dropped to a comfortable level for the skin, I lower my entire palm, and this must be done several times 3-4.

First I lower it once, wait a little for the paraffin to set and repeat 2-3 more times.

Before the procedure, in order for the hands to become smoother and softer and receive additional nutrition, you need to “scrub” them and then lubricate them with hand cream.

As a scrub I use crushed classic cereals, to which I add a teaspoon of oil (olive, amaranth or walnut). After this natural scrub, your hands are smooth and soft.

On the first pass, you need to “spread” your fingers.

In the subsequent ones, we keep our fingers tightly closed and lower them into paraffin.

After you have done this 3-4 times, you need to wrap your hand in a plastic bag and put on warm mittens on top, or, if you don’t have them, wrap your hands in a warm terry towel.

Afterwards, we do the same with the other hand. Of course, it would be ideal if someone could help you, but it’s quite possible to cope on your own.

We sit in mittens for 15-20 minutes. After we remove the mittens and the bag, the paraffin is removed in a layer.

Throw used paraffin into the trash!!! Since paraffin draws out toxins and impurities, it is not recommended to reuse it. This does not apply to the paraffin in which you dipped your hands; if it remains, then melt it next time by adding another piece of paraffin to it.

After about 10 minutes, the paraffin will begin to cool and squeeze the skin tightly, you may feel a not entirely pleasant sensation, your hands will begin to pulsate, don’t worry, this is normal, you shouldn’t be afraid of it.

After you remove the paraffin, it is better to blot your palms paper napkin, as there will be beads of sweat on them. It is not recommended to wash your hands immediately after the procedure, so it is better to do this procedure at night before going to bed.

Immediately after the first paraffin therapy procedure, the skin of your hands is significantly transformed, it becomes smooth and soft. Dryness and flaking of the skin disappears, irritated skin calms down. During the cold season, it is recommended to carry out this procedure once a week or two.

Having tried it once, I simply became a fan of this procedure, especially in the cold season, when the skin of the hands is very flaky and chapped, paraffin therapy is simply a salvation for me.

Paraffin therapy has contraindications for use , which you should familiarize yourself with before the procedure:

"Cold paraffin therapy"

IN Lately“Cold paraffin therapy” is becoming increasingly popular. This procedure is simpler than hot paraffin therapy, eliminates the possibility of burns and takes less time. It can get your hands in order much faster, since you don’t need to “heat” the paraffin in a water bath or wait for it to cool down. It is enough just to apply “cold paraffin” in the form of a cream to the skin, put on the bag and wrap them warmly. After 20 minutes, your hands are smooth and soft.

To make paraffin cream you will need the following ingredients:

Vaseline oil (liquid paraffin) – 3 tbsp.

Paraffin – 2 tbsp.

Lanolin – 1 tbsp.

Cocoa butter – 1 tbsp.

Jojoba oil - 1 tbsp.

Beeswax - 1 tbsp.

Vitamin E – 1 tsp.

Melt the paraffin in a water bath and gradually add all the other ingredients.

Melt all components in a “water bath”

After all the ingredients have completely melted and the mass has turned into a clear liquid, remove it from the heat and cool.

"Cold paraffin"

We add vitamin E at the very last stage, after the paraffin has already been removed from the water bath. Pour into a container prepared in advance and convenient for later use. I immediately melted into glass jar. After the mass begins to cool, it hardens.

"Cold paraffin"

"Cold paraffin"

Consistency “Cold paraffin” turns out like solid oils. When it comes into contact with the skin, the “cream” begins to melt, and applying it will not be difficult.

My "cold paraffin" has a bright rich smell of chocolate, since my cocoa butter is unrefined and has a very pleasant chocolate aroma. If your oil is odorless, you can add essential oil to suit your taste.

For “cold paraffin therapy” you will need:

  • Cellophane bag – 2 pcs;
  • Warm mittens;
  • The cream paraffin itself;
  • Paper napkin.

Ingredients for "cold paraffin"

Before applying cold paraffin, I also advise you to scrub the skin, and then apply a nourishing hand cream.

After performing the manipulations with a spatula, I take out a small amount of cream and evenly distribute the cream in a thick layer over the entire surface of the hand, including the interdigital area. Solid paraffin in contact with warm skin begins to melt, and this will not be difficult to do. We put on the bags and wrap the hands on top for 15-20 minutes. After this time, remove the mittens. Some of the paraffin will remain on the bag. Remove the remaining paraffin from your hands with a soft paper napkin. You can now enjoy smooth and soft hands.

The result is immediate, and immediately after the procedure, you will notice it and be pleasantly surprised . The skin of your hands becomes moisturized, smooth and velvety. The effect of the procedure lasts for a long time. Peeling and dry skin disappears. The cold paraffin therapy procedure is simply a salvation for my dry and flaky skin during the winter.

After the cold paraffin therapy procedure

Pros:

  • moisturizes the skin of the hands and removes dryness and flaking on the skin;
  • is inexpensive;
  • you can do it at home yourself;
  • paraffin can be bought at any pharmacy;
  • the effect is visible immediately after the first procedure

Minuses :

  • cold paraffin is not as harmless to the skin as we would like;
  • the sensations during hot paraffin therapy are not very pleasant;
  • you need to do the procedure very carefully so as not to burn the skin

Conclusion:

When choosing between these two types of paraffin therapy, I still give preference to “hot paraffin therapy”, and I use cold paraffin cream in emergency cases, when there is not enough time for a long procedure.

The paraffin cream contains mineral oil, which can moisturize the skin only externally, removing signs of flaking, but at the same time retaining fluid in the body, and preventing the process of removing waste and toxins from the skin, and the skin ultimately remains dehydrated. Therefore, I would not abuse this procedure.

He doesn't let her "breathe". Yes, of course, in hand cream this ingredient is not as harmful as, for example, in a night face cream, but using it constantly can speed up the aging process of the skin and get the opposite effect from its use. Hot paraffin has exactly the opposite effect on the skin - it improves blood circulation, rids it of toxins, removes excess fluid from the skin, moisturizing it and making it soft and velvety. And the effect of moisturized hands lasts longer from the “hot paraffin”.

And in general, it seems to me that if you apply absolutely any hand cream, wrap your hands in a plastic bag and put on mittens, the effect will be the same as from “cold paraffin”. Maybe I'm wrong of course.

It's up to you to choose what you like best.

Let your hands be beautiful, because

"Hands are business card girls!

Paraffin therapy for hands - cold method

There is no need to heat up a cold product, because it is a real cream, only with a paraffin base. It contains lanolin, wax, other beneficial substances, as well as essential oils. It has a dense structure, which quickly softens from the warmth of the skin of the hands.

In terms of effectiveness, the cold method is no worse than its hot counterpart, even much more convenient and simpler. What paraffin cream can do:

  • Gives the skin firmness and elasticity.
  • Thanks to natural components, it strengthens the structure of nails and eliminates their fragility.
  • Moisturizes, softens, smoothes out small wrinkles and prevents them from forming again.
  • Softens the cuticle, removes hangnails.
  • Resists the formation of calluses.
  • Relieves joint pain. Heals small wounds.

Cold masks should be done 1-2 times a week. To maintain the effect obtained, it is advisable to use moisturizing creams between sessions.

Stages of cold paraffin therapy:

  1. Cleansing and degreasing the skin with toner
  2. Deep cleansing and exfoliation of the skin using a scrub with peach oil
  3. Intensive care – cream with collagen
  4. Paraffin mask - applying paraffin cream in a thick layer under a film and a towel (or mittens)

After 15-20 minutes of drying, remove the remaining paraffin cream with a napkin. Result: beautiful well-groomed hands.

Hand care is very important for a woman, since the skin on the hands is most often exposed to negative influences. Paraffin therapy is a great way to keep the skin of your hands young and toned. Which paraffin therapy will be most useful for you is up to you to decide.

Hot paraffin is not for everyone. It is not advisable to use it for any skin diseases, in the presence of neoplasms, as well as if there are problems with the cardiovascular system.

Paraffin cream is not used for the face. This product leaves an unnecessary oily sheen. That is why facial care is carried out only with the help of hot paraffin therapy, which can be read about in another section of our website.

Don't forget that paraffin therapy is a pleasant procedure and can be done in the excellent company of your friends. This is a great opportunity to see each other and become closer to each other thanks to wonderful cosmetic procedures.

Every woman knows that in order to look young, it is not enough to take care of just your face. Hands indicate age much more clearly. Frost, wind, moisture - all this has a detrimental effect on delicate skin, causing it to become rough and old.

Cold paraffin therapy is one of the most effective ways hand and foot care. Hot paraffin therapy was known back in ancient Rome and its high effectiveness was noted even then. Paraffin is a unique material that does not cause burns even when heated.

The beneficial effects of paraffin

It has been proven that using paraffin on hands and feet is much more effective than using any other cream. The undoubted advantages include:

  1. Improving blood supply and lymphatic drainage. This significantly improves the supply of nutrients to the skin.
  2. Clears pores of impurities, allowing skin to breathe.
  3. Reduces swelling by removing excess fluid.
  4. Visually reduces visible fine wrinkles.
  5. Restores skin tone and also increases its elasticity.
  6. It has a general strengthening and healing effect.

Difference between hot and cold paraffin therapy

Several significant differences have been identified between the use of cream paraffin, applied in a cold state, and requiring heating:

  1. Temperature. The drug retains its heat without heating up or cooling down. Its temperature always matches the environment.
  2. Structure of the material. A product with a lower melting point is more dense, which significantly affects the effect after the procedure.
  3. Consistency. Cream paraffin in its original state is much softer than hot one. It is unusual for it to form a dense film.
  4. Compound. It contains a much larger amount of active ingredients. The manufacturer adds vitamins, honey, proteins, essential oils and many other useful substances to the composition of its products.

Advantages

The cold paraffin therapy method has a number of advantages:

  • No additional utensils designed for melting paraffin are required.
  • No additional equipment required.
  • Short preparatory period. There is no need to wait until the paraffin cream can be used.
  • It is easily washed off from the skin of the hands with just warm water without the use of any products.
  • The only contraindications are individual intolerance to the components that make up the paraffin.
  • Hygienic method. Each portion is applied individually.
  • It is more pleasant than the hot method, as it does not heat the skin.
  • Availability of the method. You don’t have to go to a beauty salon for the procedure.

With all the advantages, the effectiveness of cold cream paraffin is not inferior to hot one.

Cold paraffin cream is not used on the face. Its area of action is exclusively the skin of the hands and feet.

Cold paraffin cream cannot solve all skin problems. It is prescribed for excessively dry and flaky skin. Cold paraffin has a softening effect on the skin of the hands and feet, promotes the healing of microcracks, improves blood circulation and relieves fatigue. It can be used even in cases of varicose veins.

The natural components included in the cream strengthen and nourish nails.

Experts say that cold paraffin crepe, in addition to the hands and feet, shows good results on the rough skin of the elbow and knee joints.

Contraindications

Paraffin cream, despite its enormous benefits for the skin, also has a number of contraindications:

The use of cold paraffin is prohibited if:

  • The skin is affected by bacterial, viral or fungal infections.
  • Pustular lesions are observed on the skin.
  • There are open sores, scratches or abrasions.
  • A rash of any origin is present.
  • During the period of exacerbation of dermatitis, eczema and allergic skin diseases.

To get a good result, you should follow a number of rules for applying paraffin cream to the skin:

If the skin is of normal oily content, then the use of a moisturizer is recommended. For dry or rough skin, take a nourishing cream or oil. This step is optional.
  4. Using a special spatula or brush, apply paraffin cream in an even layer to the skin of your hands or feet. It is important to ensure that everything, even the most inaccessible areas, are treated.
